Clerics who take the Cold domain are servants of winter and frost. They teach of the necessity to wipe away what came before so that new things can rise up instead, and that winter determines who is fit for survival and who is not. Cold clerics often tend to the elderly in their communities, helping them prepare and come to terms with their final winter. Cold clerics are particularly common in colder northern settlements, where their devotions to the gods of winter help give the people the strength to endure the coming hard times. Food, something that is always in short supply in winter, is the most common offerings given, but sacrifice of prisoners, slaves, and outcasts does occur when the winter is particularly harsh. Not only do such sacrifices appease the gods, but it also reduces the drain on the local community when there is not enough food to go around.
