Tuigan

Region(s): the Endless Wastes between Faerun and Kara-Tur
Race(s): Humans

The Tuigan are Humans from Taan, also known as the Endless Wastes, the vast steppes that stretch between Faerûn and Kara-Tur.

They are organized in tribes. The name "Tuigan" is actually only the name of one of the major tribes. They are closely related to the inhabitants of Kara-Tur. The tribes speak Tuigan and use the Thorass alphabet. Literacy is rare. Tuigans can also be found in Semphar, Thay, Thesk, Narfell, and Rashemen. Often as bands of mercenaries fleeing the harsh life of the Steppe.

In summer, Tuigan men enjoye hunting snow-beasts in the mountains. The Tuigan mostly eat meat, vegetables are almost unknown amongst them. Kumiss is a common alcoholic beverage. Many in Faerûn falsely believe that Tuigans eat insects.
