A 3-foot-long, blazing beam of fire springs forth from your hand. The blade burns hot blue, imbued magically with an oxygen supply to increase its temperature to the point where it can slice through armour as a hot knife through butter. You wield this bladelike beam as if it were a scimitar.
Attacks with the flame blade are melee touch attacks. The blade deals 1d8 points of fire damage +1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10). Since the blade is immaterial, your Strength modifier does not apply to the damage. The first attack each round determines the outcome of the Spell Resistance check for that round's attacks. You gain a cumulative +1 bonus to hit for every attack with the flame blade for Weapon Focus Scimitar, as well as the Greater and Epic weapon focus feats thereof. Proficiency with a scimitar is not required to wield the Flame Blade.
