The Orc language, also known as Daraktan, is the common language written and spoken by most literate orcs. It evolved from the archaic Hulgorkyn language used by the orcs hundreds of years ago. Daraktan uses a crude but distinct copy of the dwarven Dethek script.

Unlike the Goblin language of Khukliak expeditions into the North have occasionally returned with Orc writings and tales of crudely built settlements of varying sizes. These tales have never been verified because the rate of returning expeditions is one to ten, but scholars contend they are not all that unlikely if records of the ancient Orc Gate War are to be believed accurate.

Some cities sponsor linguistic studies into Orc in an effort to aid intelligence gathering and military operations against hordes. Trade with Orc communities is also not unknown, though usually unsanctioned and reviled.
