The effect of a protection from normal weapons spell lasts no longer than one round per caster level. When the spell is cast it confers complete invulnerability to all non-magical weapons. This does not include weapons that are blessed or enhanced. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled. This spell cancels an active Absolute Immunity ward.

Nezram's Negate Weapons is part of his collected works, a tome boastfully titled 'Unique Mageries'. Originally penned by the reknowned Mulhorandi Archmage Nezram around 622 DR, the tome did not leave his personal hoard until it somehow came into the possession of Elminster Aumar in 1247 DR. The Sage of Shadowdale commissioned several copies which were to be passed on and copied in turn by various reputable parties.

The Church of Oghma's is known to have received substantial donations from interested Mages in Amn and Waterdeep for the privilege of receiving a copy. The exacting standard of arcane penmanship required to copy the tome means it sells for sums worth tens of thousands of gold coins, and requires roughly two years to produce. The original tome left the public eye a year after Elminster copied it, supposedly having been returned to its owner by the Sage of Shadowdale.
