A carver or sculpter is skilled at carving and sculpting wood, bone, horn, and stone. They are also skilled in making pewter, glass, or ceramic containers and items.
Craft skills are specifically focused on creating something. You can practice your trade and make a decent living, earning 10 times your check result in gold per week of dedicated work. You know how to use the tools of your trade, how to perform the craft's daily tasks, how to supervise untrained helpers, and how to hadnle common problems.
All crafts require artisan's tools to give best chance of success. If improvised toolse are used, the check is made with a -2 penalty. On the other hand, masterwork artisan's tools provide a +2 circumstance bonus on check.
Modifying ability: Intelligence.
Classes:
Requires training: No.
Check: Variable by item. To earn income, you receive a number of gold pieces equal to 10 times your check result. Rolling 5 or less on an income roll represents bad luck and results in no income for that week.
Use: Selected.
Special
A dwarf has a +2 racial bonus on Craft checks that are related to stone or metal, because dwarves are especially capable with stonework and metalwork.
A gnome has a +2 racial bonus on Craft: Alchemy checks, because gnomes have sensitive noses.
Server Notes
Several new craft skills have been added (Craft: Carving/Sculpting, Craft: Engineering, Craft: Food Preparation, Craft: Metalwork, Craft: Scribe), and Craft: Textiles/Leatherwork. These have no functionality at present beyond RP/DM plots (except for Craft: Engineering, which is used now to set traps), but these will be expanded in a subsequent patch. Old skill Craft: Alchemy remains.
