The giant language, called Jotun by those who speak it, is the ancient language of most giants. It is one of the oldest living languages. Jotun etymology shares some roots with Common and Thorass, but similarities end there. Expert linguists have theorized Thorass and Jotun have a shared ancestor, though no significant research has been performed into the matter. The Giants have not been talkative either, the heritage mystery of their language apparently being a matter of religion and ritual.

Speakers of Jotun are not rare by any stretch. Despite laws against the practice Giants are still commonly enslaved if possible, or enslave other races. It is understandably practical to be able to communicate either way. Meeting an actual student of the language is exceedingly rare, and potentially dangerous as both Fire and Frost Giants for example pursue vendetta's against individuals who demonstrate an exceptionally large vocabulary. It is suspected that certain words or inflexions are normally reserved for ritual practices, with severe penalties for uttering them in 'wrong' situations.
