NOTES: The Paladin Kit, Cavalier as well as the PRC's Harper Scout and Cave Stalker also grant Favored Enemies. Note that if Ranger levels are present FE bonuses are calculated as (Ranger Level / 5) + 1, so Ranger 25/Harper Scout 5, while getting a total of 8 FE's (instead of 7 for Ranger 30) would only get 6 bonus damage vs. those 8 FE's (vs. +7 damage for pure Ranger). If no Ranger levels are present, the damage is calculated correctly based on number of FE's. So a Cavalier 25/Harper Scout 5 would have 7 FE's and +7 to skills and damage against those Favored Enemies. | |||

Favored enemy is a ranger ability.
At 1st level, a ranger may select a type of creature as his favored enemy. The ranger gains a +1 bonus on bluff, listen, spot, and taunt checks, and also a +1 bonus on weapon damage rolls against their favored enemy. At 5th level and every five levels after that, the ranger can choose an additional favored enemy and gains +1 to all favored enemy bonuses.
- The progression of the bonuses for favored enemies matches the one in NWN and is not selectable as in the 3.5 Rules.
Favored enemy 3.5 Rules
At 1st level, a ranger may select a type of creature from among those given on the below list. The ranger gains a +2 bonus on bluff, listen, sense motive, spot, and survival checks when using these skills against creatures of this type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon damage rolls against such creatures.
At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy from those given on the table. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by 2.
If a specific creature falls into more than one category of favored enemy, the ranger’s bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.
