Cormanthan is a language spoken to some extent by inhabitants of Cormyr, the Dalelands and Sembia, from Teshwave in the north to Proskur in the south, and from the Far Hills in the west to Elmwood in the east. Cormanthan is not not an official language anywhere except in the Dalelands, where it customarily spoken. Both Cormyr and Sembia for example formally speak and write in Chondathan.

The language is closely related with Chondathan, both being off-shoots of Central Thorass.

A notable speaker of Cormanthan is the Sage of Shadowdale, though he is known fluently speak many other languages also.
